Dance/Dancing

While we do not have any record of specific Scythian dances, there are plaques depicting feminine dancing figures from women’s headdresses found in several burial sites–according to Babenko (2024), these include Ryzhanivka, Pisochyn, Haimanova Mohyla, Vodoslavka, and Deev barrow.

According to Babenko (2024; 2025), these figures are depictions of maenads imported from Greek art and that may or may not reflect sacrificial ritual practices in Scythian culture involving a severed head.
